Florida boat crash: 1 boat sinks, 10 hurt in collision

A Florida boat crash has left 10 people in the hospital, and one boat sunk this week in a shocking collision by Elliott Key. The CS Monitor reported this Monday, June 10, that although all of the details surrounding the boat crash in Florida remain murky at this point, the collision occurred Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m.

In the Florida boat crash, at least 10 people were hurt after two boats smashed into one another by Elliott Key, located in Biscayne National Park. A 36-foot powerboat carrying 16-18 people (reports on the exact number of passengers vary) crashed into a small boat that had only two passengers aboard.

Following the collision, local officers confirmed that the smaller boat sank. While 10 people injured is scary enough as it is, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission noted in a statement that all those involved should be happy to have their lives after the impact.
“[We’re] … very fortunate that no one was killed,” he said.
The Florida boat crash had all 10 people that were injured brought to a nearby medical center, while the large Carrera was later towed to Cutler Bay for repairs.
The cause of the crash, including whose fault the collision may be, isn’t known at this point and time.
