June 11, 2013 (ATLANTA) (WLS) -
An explosion forced the evacuation of a concourse at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Tuesday morning.
The blast happened at a "ramp level maintenance shop," the
airport said in a news release. There was no fire or smoke and no
reports of injuries. The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Concourse D of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was evacuated after the explosion in a maintenance shed just before 9 a.m.
Officials say the small electrical explosion was at the ramp-level maintenance shop by Gate D21, knocking out power to most of the concourse. Airport workers moved the passengers by bus to another concourse. Later, before that was completed, the passengers were allowed to walk back through the main terminal.
