When
Ben Affleck took the stage at the Oscars this year after "Argo" won
Best Picture, his speech and comments about his marriage to Jennifer
Garner had some people scratching their heads. But his wife is calling
her husband's words the "warmest compliment in the world."
"I
want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It's
good. It is work, but the best kind of work and there's no one I'd
rather work with," Ben told his wife Jen at the Oscars as the world
watched - something the actress was asked about from worried friends.
"I had a friend call and say, 'Are you OK?'" she told Britain's The Telegraph.
But when Jennifer heard her husband speaking, she only heard positive things from the director/actor.
"I
know Ben, I knew he meant it as the hugest, warmest compliment in the
world," she continued. "I think he was saying, 'Look, what we have is
really real and I value it above all and I'm in it with you and I know
you are in it with me.' That's the way I took it."
The proud wife felt for her husband following the somewhat-awkward speech.
"Poor guy. It's so horrible to put yourself out there. He didn't have to worry about it from my point of view," she added.
