Cops banned from Denny's: Belleville Police Chief stages 'boycott' (Photos)

 

Cops banned from a Denny's in Illinois by the Belleville Police chief got a rude awakening on New Year's Day when they were asked to leave. Ironically, when a manager realized five officers were carrying weapons, they were reminded of a so-called "no-gun" policy. For the disrespectful act, officers were banned by the chief in order to "boycott" the Denny's restaurant. Imagine that?

Fox2Now shared details of the strange news story. In its Jan. 2 report, it discussed the shocking situation brewing in the small town on why the cops were banned from Denny's.

On the cops being banned from Denny's:
Source say that on Jan. 1, five plainclothes Belleville Police detectives, who dined at the restaurant were approached by a manager on duty about a customer complaint.

Apparently, a diner saw an exposed weapon and notified management. The irony is that even after management confirmed the five were police officers, they were admonished about having a weapon in the restaurant.

And while another manager cleared up the confusion and apologized, the officers left the facility behind the embarrassing situation.

"It's absolutely a slap in the face. I totally agree it's completely disrespectful. How can anyone think to tell a police officer you can't be in here with your gun its absurd to me?" Belleville Police Captain Don Sax said about the cops being banned from Denny's.

"I've never known anybody that didn't want a police officer present in an establishment in a business it's added security it's absolutely what they want," Sax added.

F2N said that the chief of police tried to resolve the matter discreetly, to no avail. That's why he decided to handle the matter publicly. This explains why the cops were banned from Denny's.
In fact, several customers plan to boycott the establishment as well until the company resolves the issue.
